How to Get Your Kids to Eat Healthy - Part 1
Kids are picky eaters.
No one will argue that point.
Sometimes, the things we crave as children aren't what we want to eat at all when we grow up. It's a natural part of growing up and maturing, but it can be frustrating for parents who want their kids to maintain healthy eating habits from an early age.
It seems like it is a never ending struggle to get your kids to eat healthy. They don’t always like the food you make and they can be downright picky when it comes to trying new things. But, there are a few tricks that will help you out with this problem. It's not easy, but with these tips you can start seeing some progress in the right direction!
PART 1: Get your children involved in grocery shopping and cooking meals!
Bring your children to the grocery store (when you can) where they can see different kinds of foods like fruits, vegetables, meats, processed foods, junk foods, and more. When you get your children involved in your grocery shopping, you can explain to them everything that you add to the cart and WHY you would like to purchase them.
For instance, you can teach them how to read nutrition facts. This way, they will learn if a certain food is beneficial and why it is healthy for them. Explain that overindulgence of sugars and processed food will make them unhealthy and that you want them to grow up with good health habits. Make your kids also understand that the money won't go to waste if it is spent on the right nutritious food.
When your kids see how you make delicious food, they will be more interested in eating what you make. This will take a little patience at first as they learn, yet will result in them being self sufficient, more confident, and appreciate fresh food.
Also, you can discuss the process of cooking, what the ingredients are, and how important it is to include them. Tell your kids that every dish must consist of healthy ingredients so the meal will be yummy and healthy. Getting them involved with preparation and eventually cooking with you can also be a great bonding experience for your family :)
