How to Get Your Kids to Eat Healthy - Part 4

June 03, 2025•2 min read

It seems like it is a never ending struggle to get your kids to eat healthy. 🥦 They don’t always like the food you make and they can be downright picky when it comes to trying new things. But, there are a few tricks that will help you out with this problem. It's not easy, but with these tips you can start seeing some progress in the right direction!

PART 4: Be Patient - Building Healthy Habits Takes Time

Helping your child develop healthy eating habits is one of the best gifts you can give—but it’s not always easy, especially if they’re used to sugary snacks, soda, or fast food. The good news? You don’t have to change everything overnight. In fact, slow and steady is the way to go.

It takes time, consistency, and a lot of patience to shift habits, especially with children. Instead of making a big, sudden change, try making small swaps over time. For example, replace soda with water or sparkling water first. Next, try offering fruit instead of candy. By making gradual changes, your child is less likely to resist, and they may not even notice the difference at first.

Involve your child in the process—talk to them about how healthy food helps their bodies grow stronger, keeps their minds clear, and even helps prevent health problems in the future, like heart disease or mood swings. You don’t need to scare them with too much detail—just help them understand that food fuels their brain and body.

And most importantly, be patient with yourself too. Every small change matters, and every healthy choice adds up. Over time, your child will not only eat better—they’ll feel better, too.
